There are very few freely available SIP-based presence servers on the Internet. Below you will find details about two open-source implementations.

OpenSER Presence Module

This module works really well and is easy to setup. A basic "how-to" guide to installing this server can be found here.

Presence Agent (Sip Express Router)

The Presence Agent (PA) is distributed with the latest version of SER from Iptel.org. A handbook is available for Installing and configuring PA.
