  • Open Source IPTV from UCT

An Open Source IPTV implementation was recently released by the Communications Research Lab at the University of Cape Town. It is designed to work with the UCT IMS Client v1.0.8, although it may work with other clients. The IPTV server supports 3 media channels, where each channel is a locally stored movie file. From the IMS client, you can choose a channel and even view the film/stream on full screen mode. For bandwidth constrained links, simply start the server with a lower streaming quality index. The server itself is really flexible, it supports most media formats and codecs, including the latest divx and xvid ones.

This server is one of the only open source IPTV servers available on the Internet today.
